Teeth Cleanings

Keeping your teeth clean is vital for maintaining excellent oral health and preventing cavities and gum disease. Regular professional teeth cleanings remove plaque and tartar buildup, ensuring your smile remains healthy and bright.

Our well-trained hygienist will give you a gentle, thorough teeth cleaning and show you how to keep your teeth and gums in optimum condition at home. Dr. Bensoussan will test your gums for any gum disease, and if there is any, our hygienist will perform a deep cleaning to remove calculus below the gum line that allow bacteria to flourish.

Efficient, effective plaque removal with Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT)

Biofilm is a sticky layer of bacteria that forms on teeth and gums, left alone, it forms plaque. Biofilm is the root cause of cavities, gun disease and bad breath.

We use a specialized air polisher to spray a gentle stream of air, warm water and fine powder to remove the biofilm and plaque from tooth surfaces, gums and around implants. The air polisher also makes your teeth brighter and smoother.

Removing tartar and stains with our Ultrasonic Scaler

Once the plaque has been eliminated, we’ll use an ultrasonic scaler to remove any stains and tartar (hardened plaque) and on the upper tooth and below the gum line, if there is also gum disease.

Ultrasonic vibrations gently break apart deposits on your teeth, using water to flush the debris and bacteria away. We use warm water to make your experience comfortable.

Bacteria Saliva Testing

An important diagnostic tool is measuring the amount of toxic bacteria currently in your mouth. This helps Dr. Bensoussan assess whether the patient is at high risk for gum disease and decay.

The saliva test can also assist Dr. Bensoussan in assessing if a patient with existing gum damage or bone loss has active gum disease.

Deep Cleaning

We treat mild to moderate gum disease using an ultrasonic and hand scaler to remove tartar and plaque accumulated below the gum line.

How Deep Cleaning works

The plaque and tartar build-up cause the gum to move away from the tooth, creating pockets. Both the buildup and the pockets can harbor harmful bacteria that untreated can cause inflammation leading to gum recession and bone loss. Scaling removes the plaque and tartar and planing smooths the root to prevent future bacteria growth.

Patient Education
